THE ENGLISH BUDGET.

Mr Childers, Chancellor of the Exchequer, delivered the Budget statement in the House of Commons to-tlay. lie announced that the re\ cnue for the past financial year amounted to £88,000,000, and the expenditure to £80,100,000. The revenue for the current year was estimated at £83,000,000, and the expenditure £88,750,000, exclusive of the naval and military credit of £12,000,000. The estimated deticency at the end of this year is £14,900,000. To cover this it is proposed to increase the Income Tax by eightpence, the duty on spirits by two shillings, and on beer by one shilling, and to suspend tha Public Debt Sinking Fund.
