Mn J. S. Blcklvnd's sale of Mr R. Seccombes stock and implements on the f.irm mi Friday last was most numerously attuned, and all the lots were sold at an advance on Ohaupo late sales. Sergeant Gillies, who ia engaged compiling the Militia Roll for this district took the advantage of the gathering, and a good many names fuund a line in his book. Martial ardour in the locality 11 not very strong, and not a few attempted to evade a personal lecognition from the popular sergeant on thih particular occasion, but of cour.se without succeeding m t>o doing. The whole of the Armed Constabulary remaining on the works of the Kawhia road at Okoko are under orders for Auckland, they are expected here tomorrow. The head quarters staff now stationed at Kihikihi are also under orders for removal. A number of natives who have obtained small contracts on the line of railway commenced work to-day.— (Own correspondent.) f
