The Next " Boom."
In a Canadian contemporary is a paper from a Kancheman in the extreme outskirts of civilisation, who has been regretting the disappearance of the bison. It seems that not only do few survive, but the few remaining " chow poor fight" to man or beast. The writer in question is a mighty Nimrod, who3e pleasure it haa been to wrap himself "in a buffalo robe" when he " took his rides abroad." He declarPß that he ib in fear that he will have to go unclad, for the produce of the loom ia " too dam mean" for a real hunter to wear. In this his distress, he finds a comforter in a Scotchman, who strongly advises the introduction of the Kyloe (or as we bast know it the West Highlander) to roam the prairies and supply sport and palts. It is odd that the new world should leave tho old to supply ferocity and sport. It cannot be doubted that the Kyloe is a bellioose beast, and is quite as likely to hold his own against grizzly bear or 11 ;d Indian as ever was tke bison ; whilst his frame is far more graceful, and his horns more desirablo for trophies. It is plain that the next boom from beyond the Atlantio ia to be for Kyloes, " real fierce 'uns."
