THE LATEST. THE RUSSIAN PRESS ON THE SITUATION. (Received April 24th, 1.30 pm ) St. Petersburgh, April 23.
The semi-om'cial Journal de >S. Petersburg, in an article on the Attghan question, to-day, expresses its conviction that Sir Peter Lumsden's report to the British Governof the recent lighting, was derived from Afighan sources, and further states that the Russian Government place complete reliance on Genera] Koinarotl's report of the proceedings. Tho article concludes with a hope that peace may still be looked for.
