THE LATEST. [Received April 13th 2.45 p.m ] MR GLADSTONE ON THE AFFGHAN QUESTION. London, April 1 4.
In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone made a statement to the effect that the Russian Foreign Ofnce had. renewed the recent Pacific assurances as to the policy of the Government with regard to the Aftghan frontier, and had st.it t*l that any change made by the Russian commander in the position of troops ne.ii 1 Penj-deh would l»p contrary to the intentions and orders of the Government.
