KIHIKIHI.

A IUNQUET to the Hon. Mr Stout is in contemplation by the inhabitants <.( this and the surroundine districts. It is to be Riven in honour of the occasion of turning the fiist sod of tho railway extension and will be held in the Public Hall hcie. The chairman of the Kihikihi, Te Awamutu, and Alexandra Town Boards, and the Rangiaohia, and Mangiipiko Highway Boards will bo ahked will be asked to go on the committee. It is by no means intended that the banquet should be confined to the people of this town, for the promoters are anxiouß that the whole distiict should take pait in it. I hope tho public will givo a hearty support to the matter. Let us not be behind other districts where such things are made, and justly so, the subject of general rejoicing and congratulations, rlie loth will be a led letter day in our calendar ; the commencement of tho extension of the main tiunk line will boon be an accomplished fact in spite of tho gloomy forebodings of ceitain individuals who prodieted that it would not take place for the next ten years. The inuch-talked-of bridge will soon be in course of election, for I hear tendeis will soon be called for. One of the penalties of greatness U to b« worried to death by deputation wherever great men go. I hope Mr Stout will be allowed to depait in peace ; probably he will have a much butter opinion of us if we don t poster him with a acting of request*. Whether his good opinion will be of any use to us is pei haps doubtful, but we might let him alone while he is heie.— (Own Coneaponden t. )
