It held in a large paddock adjoining Mr McDonalds hotel, on the road from Faeroa to Tauranga. The ground was well fenced in, <md very suitable for the purpose. There was a model. itely good show of live -took, and some, of the horses and horned cattle chanced hands at satisfactory prices. Sir J. S. Auckland was present, und held an auction sale in the afternoon. The display of cereals was rather |K>or, anrl w.is not calculated to impiess visitois \eiy fa\ourably with the gr.im glowing capabilities of the district, but of dairy pioduce the exhibits weie \eiy cirditable and spoke well for the skill of the nettlers in that branch of farming industiy. As a fiist attempt at introducing an institution of the kind in the settlement, it was successful, and no doubt it will be kept up annually. The concert held here on Easter Monday evening, in aid of the libraiy building fund, was not so largely pationiscd .is it ought to have Wen, considering the excellent character of the enteitainmeut, and the praiseworthy object for which it was got up. Nearly all the item* in the ptogr.tmme wero capitally rendered, and the audience expressed their appicciation by frequent applause. The Hinging of Mm Burgess in "The Treasures of the Peep," and of Miss Tierney in the "List Hose of Summer," and " Eileen Alannah " was greatly admired. Mis'* Brown, fiom the Thames, and Miss Smith, in the song " Haby Mmo " were also well received. Messrs Burgess and McCoskie acquitted themselves admirably, as did also Messrs Tause and Whitehonse. Mr Barnes sang " Canssima," and "The Blacksmith's Son " w itli excellent effect, but perhaps the most taking item was a new p.ttiiob song entitled "The Sons of New South Wales," written by Mr J. Conies, and Hung by him for the first time m public on Monday evening. Ai a composition, it reflects much ciedit on the authoi, and was vocifeiously applauded by the audience. Miss Wamw right played the accompaniments, and g.ivo one or two selections in hei usual bnlhant way.
