CONCERT AT ALEXANDRA.

Thk concert in iud of the funds of (ho Public Ha,ll, which t»ok place on Monday evening, wan well attended, Mi A. Helps officiating as chnirin.in. All passed off most li.uiiKiniourily, and a pleasant evening was spent by those present. The committee were foitnnate in paining the ussist.uice of some young ladies from Hamilton, v\ ho kindly took part in the performance, | as well an several of our old local favourite*. All acquitted themselves most admirably, so I will not further particularise. The following was the programme : — Pianoforte solo, Mi (i. F. Grierson ; vocal duet, "Tell mi 1 , (Jentle Stronger," Misses Murray (encoie) ; song, " Carisniinn." Mr Johnson ; song, " Miller and the Maid," Mus Kmch (encore) ; song, " Yes, 'tis a Spell,' 1 Mr A. Helps ; song, " Dream Faces, " Mrs (iiierHon ; pianoforte ko]o, lady mnateur ; «hoit lecture on "Tiue Manliness," Mr Hinton ; .song, "Too Late," Miss W. Munay : pianofoite aolo, Miss Sage; song, "The Scout," Mr Jolmion ; B<>ng, ''Summer Shower," Mit-s K. Murray ; vocal duet, " I'ilot Biave," .Mis (Jrieraon and Miss Finch : Ming, " IJlnw me up an Apple Tien,' Mi F. MuMinn (encore) ; pianoforte solo, Mis« Stunner; "(Jood Save tho Uneen." At the conclusion of the concert the chairman, in thanking those pie>cnt for Ihcir attendance, also intimated th.it it was the intention of the Hall Committee to inaugurate a scries of concerts mid entertainments in aid of the hall fund-, and to purchase a piano foi the usu of the hall.
