At a meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce, held yesterday, the question of the defenceless state of the city, in case of outbreak of hostilities, was discussed, when it wan decided upon suggesting to His Worship the IMayor the desirability of asking the suburban council to join in addressing a request to the Government for'utilisation of .'such guns .md other material as are available for that purpose.
