ENGLAND, GERMANY AND FRANCE. London, March 13.
In the House of Commons lust night Mr Gladstone announced that parloyhig had been renewed with
Germany regarding New Guinea, niul was progressing \\ell. The object of the negotiations in to fW (,hc boundary between the English and the Germau acquisitions on the. north-east coast of Now Guinea. The Premier added that he hailed most cordially the colonising projects of Germany, provided tho latter country respected the rights of the Australasian colonies. When speaking last night regarding the Anglo-German parleying, Mr Gladstone s;iid Government desired only a fair division of territory on the north-ea&t coast of New Guinea. In the House of Commons, Mr Evelyn Ashley, Under Colonial ►Secretary, replying to a question, said parleying was proceeding with .1, -\ iew to England waiving her rights in the Society Islands and the port of Tahiti to France, in return tor certain reciprocal advantages. Tho position taken up by England in the negotiations would be duly mindful of the interests of Australia.
