[Received March 16th, 1 p m.] ALARM IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, March 16.
The Age to-day states that information has reached the police, which necessitates immediate precautions being taken for the safety of Government House, the powder magazine, and other buildings. A mounted guard of six lias been placed at Footscray Powder Factory, and a picket guard at Government House.
