Council Meriini; at Tk Ahoha.— The Chairman said he undeistood tint it was generally desired in the Aroh.i district th.it the council should hold their next meeting there, as se\eral people wished to lay cur tain matters before them m poison. — Cr. Maclean said he had received a lettei inuting his attendance at the proposed Audit meeting, and he understood th it Ci. Brunskill had been written to to the sinie effect. But it appealed that Cr. Filth wis not to be invited. This was a piece of discourtesy which the council should not overlook. After homo discussion, the in itter of h'\ingtheday for the Aroha meeting was deferred. Engineer's Reports. -Tho engineer, Mr Pavitt, made his monthly repoits on woiks m the Aroha riding, and made a number of suggestions. — It was agreed that the engineer be instructed to have Craigs road made at a cost not to exceed £30. — On the motion of Cr. Gould, it w.m asrreed to proceed with the formation of footpaths at Te Vroha, as suggested by the engineer, at a cost not to exceed £25, half to be contributed by the c iiincil.— Cr. Murphy uiged that the council should contubute t'lB, the Aroha people being very poor and the woik urgently requiied A communication was received from the Governors of the Thames High School, declining to sanction the formation of a road thiough Wilson's leasehold, between the landing and the township. — A petition was lecened from 10 residents of the distuct, to tho effect that they heard with regret the reply of the boaul on tho mitter. If tho road were made it would facilitate traffic, and shot ten tho distance between the landing and the mines by about 50 chains. They asked the council to have tho road pioclaimed under tho Public Works Act. — Cr. Mm phy supported tho tequest of tin residents, and s.iid the fact of such a load not being available was a gto.it drawl) ick to the distuct.— On the motion of Cr. Smith, it was agreed to write to tho Wardea, i«iiucsthii* him, if in his power, to take tho road. Made in suggested the advisability of having erected direction posts at various turnings between Cambifdge and Taupo. The council having considered the matter, the chairman was authorised to have the woik done. Camihudoe-Taur vnga Ro u>.— Respecting tho formation contract of tho Cam-bndge-Tauranga road, the conti actor, Donoghue, having abandoned his contract, and dishonoured his deposit cheque when presented at the bank, it was agreed to accept the next lowest tender, that of Jas. Wis«nian af 7\d» and refuse in future to entertain any tender from either John or Michael Donoghue. Taotaoroa Main Road. — Cr. Brunskill dicw attention to the wretched condition of the Taotaoroa main road between Cambudge and the Osfoid road junction.— Cr Fn tli thought this piece of road thould be repaned by Government. It was pirt of the line known as the Cambridge-Rotorua Rokl, which was a colonial road. The Government had formed and kept in repair the load on the other side of the junction, and left the five miles tin this hide to the local ro id b iard to attend to. Tho traffic over this rojd was of a general or colonial chaidcter, and not local. — On tho motion of Ci. Firth it was agreed to wiite to the Government, asking them to ha\e the road between Cambridge and tho junction le paned, pioclaiming tho entire load a colonial road. Tho meeting furthor lecommeiided that in future tho Taotaoroa Road JJoird should spend no moro mouoy on the section referred to. Ahoha-Katikyn Tiuok.— A letter was laid before the meeting by Cr. Murphy fiom a public meeting, Te Aioha, uiging the council to apply for a giant of toOO made last session for widening the abo\e track so as to make it pissable for coach traHic. — Tho Clerk said this grant had already been applied for, and a reply had been received from the Public Works Department to the effect that tho work was about to be done by the department's own offieais. This reply was considered satisfactory. WAiroA-Oxi'Oßi) Road.— A communication was received from the manager of the Auckland Agricultural Company asking that the council put tho above to id, \v Inch in wet wugther was almost impassable for traffic, m better repair. — It was 'agreed to refer the matter to tho Matamata Road Board, the bad portions of tho load being in that riding. BRIDGE OVKR Lll'SßV's CltEEK.— Pat O'Neill wrote on behalf of the Aioha pnblic asking to have a small bridge erected over Lipsev's creek at the junction of Kotoku and Ken rick streets. — The letter^was ro ceived. A Complaint. — John Goldsworthy wrote complaining that since the Wairakan run had boon fenced in he had boon closed in entirely. He could only get out by going through Mr Baskett'a propeity.— Cr. Murphy, who urged the necessity of making the small culvert asked for by Goldsworthy, was authoiised to have the work done. Freight on Fern Spur. — The manager of tho battery wrote asking what the council would charge for transmitting quartz down the Fern Spur to the b ittery. Mr Cookson the tramway manager had written to the effect that 3s (id would be a suitable charge. Some of the members thought the chaige too much. Cr. Murphy said it was only a mattor of 10 chains, and he thought 2s (id would bo sufficient. He believed in encoui aging these trial crushings, and young companies trying to devolop the resomcos of the field. — Tho Chairman proposed that the trial crushing of this mine bo hi ought down at 2s (id, as huggested by Cr. Murphy. — Carried. Te Ahoik Vioilwce Committee.-- -The following communication was leceived from the above body : — Te Aroha, 9th March. Sir, —l beg to inform you a deputation of l.itepayers will shortly visit the county offices for the purpose of inspecting the plans, Kpecification-i, accounts, books, vouchers, &c, relating to tho cost of constiuction of county tramway, and general expenditure o public moneys in tii Aroha riding. — Yours lospeetfully, EmvumPEEf,, Secietary Vigilance Committee. — The Clerk said the Vigilance Committee or any person might see the accounts, but as to tho othor things, such as vouchers, plans, &c, there was no law to empower them to see these. — Cr. Fath said, judging from the loport of the so called Vigilance Committee, there appealed to be a certain amount of want-to-know-you-know as to the expenditure on tho tiamway. He understood those people had asked.

Th Akoh v-Wmoroscomh Road.— Cr. Murphy diew attention to the fact that as vet nothing had b^en done towaids putting this load in piopei repair. The grant from (Jovernment was now available, and he would propose that the woik be proceeded with without delay. — Agieed to. Him, TiiACK.— Or. Murphy was empowered to employ a man to keep the hill track in proper repair, while the material for the new battery which had arrived at tho landing, was being carried up. A Threvt.— The Shortland Saw-mill Cou.pa.ny, wrote asking for the amount of their account £00, intimating that unless the same were paid forthwith, legal pio ceedings would be instituted. It wis agreed to inform the company th it the ,ie count has been passed for payment, and a cheque for the amount would be forwarded as soon as funds wore available.
