CONCERT AT WHATAWHATA.
A covrKur in aid of the Wesleyan circuit wasgnen hen- on Thursday nisht by the choir of Hamilton Wesleyan Church, assnt>d by friend-*. Unfortunately, the weathei was everything that was undeniable, he.iv v rain falling neaily all day, and rundenng the roads in many places almost lmpas, able, pools of water covering the lowei places, and the hills being blipperv as «las,. Undei these circumstances, I thought the singers would not attempt the join ney, but postpone the concert till a more convenient nenon, bur, although later than the adveitnod tiu.e, the choir arrived safely, and treated us to a really good concert. Notvvitlwtanding the wretched weatliei, tinsch lolh'xido «<■« about three p.uts lilled, ,md th'isa who did t.ike the trouble to plough through the mud to attend the conceit were . imply rewarded. The anthem* "" were sung with projt spirit, and all the ■olos woie \ery creditably rendered. Miss Bessie Murray and Miss Salmon each had to Hiibnut to a unanimous recall, and a charming duet by the Miises Murray natrowly esc.\t>ed a similar compliment. Miss Iwerson rendered her song with taste, and expression, and Mr Meacpem pleased all by the spirited singing of his two solus. The first part of the coawrt consisted of sacred music, and was similar to th it ghen at Ngaru iwahia a few days ago. Aftei nn iiiter\-vl of fivo minute", the second p.ut of tlie entertainment commenced, consisting of :— lnstrununUl march, Mr K. »Salm m ; «010, " (iathenng Flowers, ' Mis^ luei-on; solo, " No, Sir, ' Mi-s W. Murray ; solo, "In Bonnie Scotland," Mr Day ; s-010, "Tapping.it the (4aiden Gate," Miss B. "The Fairy Jftiie," Mr Meachem ; solo, "TneJ," Mrs Dukci. The accompinuncuts were jihyed by Miss W. Murray and Mr Salmon. If the weather lmd been ptopitious, 1 think a crowded house would ha\e welcomed this programme.—(A Correspondent.)
