The Premier has notified his inability to address a meeting. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Times publishes the following :—: — " Regarding certain remarks and telegrams that appeared in our paper reliting to Sir J. Vogcl's connection with the Consolidated Telepho.ie Company, we di-sne to state, Hrst, that our lefcrence to the matter in our summary was insetted l>y a subordinate member of the t>tatf, contiary to the editorial instructions and wns through an oversight punted ; second, as to the remarks and telegrams that from time to time were published, we find on reading two reports of the iimstigation committee that the questions at issue between Sir J. Vogel and the company are in the nature ot a puvatc dispute, and do not in any way it licet on his character. We ha\ eto express our i egret that these if marks and telegrams appeared in our columns, founded as they were ou misleading data, and we ha\ c to apologise for their appearance." MARTON, Monday.
