Dm ing the afternoon a large number of spectator-*, including in my ladies, woie present, and the Cambridge Buid, under Bandmaster Curtice, discoursed eloquent music. Mr W. Gray, whocaptamed Ihe Kilnkilii team, won the toss, and elected to put the Cambridge men in hi it, and Mes-n A. B. Stubbing and N. Hunt went to the wickets, both shortly succumbing t* the bowling of Grey and Hinton. Foirost, who followed, put 8 runs to his credit befoie lie was caught by Sullivan. Keeley put 13 runs together, including foui tlnee*, by tine fi.-e hitting, and being joined by Peat sou, the runs soon began to mount up. Peaison played a good bat, scoring 20, tor one foui, hve threes and a single, until ho hit In-i wicket. L >ngb"Hoin mid Mtoele weu> dimposed of without adding t>> the m.-oi.\ Fitzgerald, by good cricket, increased the t'ltivl by 21 runs, the top score of the day. Hitehman (secured 4, when he was caught by Valdei, and Stubbing, not out, m ide 3. Simms the last man, hit his wicket and 10tired without scoring. Total of Ist innings, 84. For Kihikihi, 1( itzpatrick and Hinton took their stand, the Hist named man being bowled by Pearson. Hiuton wa.s caught by Hitehman, off Longbottom, for (i. Chapui m just managed t-i break his ducks egg when his bails fell to Pearson, and (iiier-mi only sci.ivd 3, when l\e was caught by SimuiH. Clifford, Gray and Valder's wickets fell in quick succession t > the deadly bowling of Pear->on, Gray alone sconng. Haunona was caught by Stoele otf Longbottom for 4, and Martin and Rigg quickly ictiied without effecting any improvement, the teitn being <<liuposcd of in thirty hve minutes for 2 > run*. Pearson's bowling was a in.uki'd feature in this innings, he taking It wickets for <> runs, lv their second innings Cambridgo weie got out for 35 runs. The best scutes being Foirest, 10, and Pearson, 13. (Jray's bowling being very destructive. Kihikihi went in hopefully for their t>econd innings, wanting ill runs to win. FiUpatrick, who appeared in good form, was stumped by Forieat after securing 12 inns. Hinton and Chapman wore got rid of for 3 and 1 lehpeetnely, and <Trierson played a good innings for 11, when he was bowled by Longbottom, who in this innings took eight wickets for 23 luns. The only other who»e iscoie ran into two figures was Martin, not out, who put 12 together in good style, and who, if he had been put in earlier, might havo changed the losiilt. For Cambridge both Pearson and L mgbottoni bowled exceedingly well, and the helding of the team w.w superior to that of the visitors, who appeal not to have practiced much togelliei, the helding of A. B. Stubbing bein^ especially good, one particulaily smait catch at point off Hunt's bowling ew>kmx considerable applause fioin the spectator. For the \isiton* (xiay's bowling was veiy effective.
