Order of the Garter.
" Honi sott gui mal y pente. Never loss a garter if you can help it, for you wjII lose a fneud or sweetheart. No other part; of the dress is so unlucky to lose. If garters are left tossed about, or carelessly knotted, the friends they represent will annoy you. To find an old pair is very good luck. When Bleeping in a strange bed tie your garters nine times around the bed-post, saying: " This knot I knit, this knot I tie, To see my love as he goes by."
