A>" the horae s.ilo <unall and infenor horses brought from 20s and upwards ; useful stock horses from £10 to £15 ; medium harness, from £12 to £20 ; heavy draught from £18 to £40. The sains of fodder on Tuesdays have considerably increased, and prices are t>imilitr to those ruling on Fridays. At the wool and hide bale on Tuesday, 29 bales of wool, mostly menno, or with a merino cross, brought from 8d to near 0d the lb ; longwool and cross-bred from 4^d to fid ; pelts and skins from Is to 4s lOd each ; tallow, 22s 0d to 2<>s <)d the cwt ; hides, 4d to -Hd the tt> ; inferior, from 2d »nd upwards. At the special sale held at Mr Richardson's, of the Wairoa, on Saturday last, thoie was a numerous attendance, and satisfactory pricea, and at the regular monthly bale at Papakura on Wednesday a larger muster of grown steers than usual sold at current values. At Remnera on Thursday last dairy cattle were at late values. Fat cattle advanced in price about 10s each, pai ticularly for well bred four-year-old steeis. Smallei steers were not so freely competed foi. Prices ranged from 18s to 22s pei lOOlbs. Sheep were also slightly bettei vv orth. Wethers were steady at 2^d per ll> , and lambs, if of good quality, shared m the advance. The store lambs brought an average of 3s (id. Pigs of all classes maintained their late values.
Me>su>,. Hunter and Nolans Weekia lUpokt.— Horses: A larger number weic brought forward than on the previous week, and there was an improved demand for active spring cart bories at an advanced value. The Durham y.irds were well filled on Friday; competition was steady throughout the sale, although in many cases reserves could not be reached, and vendors were obliged to submit to lower rate I*.1 *. There was an exception as to young, strong, active horses, which advanced in value fully £2 per head. Cattle : The supply of fat be.ists has been smxller than for some weeks, but dairy and store stock have been in unusual numbers. For good cows at their proht an advanced price waa given, and fat realised a shade higher values. The dairy pens at the Newmarket yards on Tuesday were well filled. Stores were in adequate numbers, but there were not so many fat beasts yarded as ufcual. Prices for dairy cows had an upward tendency, and ranged from £G 10s to £l 0 5s ; fat and store stock at the previous week's values. Sheep : There was a good muster at Nev\ - market on Tuesday, but the previous week's jii ices were freely given. Wethers ranged frrtni 13s to 10s (Jd : owes, Us to 14s 3d each. Lambs : Since selling at from 7a to 10s rach. Pigs ; Very few yarded, but of good quality, and realised 4d per lb. live weight.
Messrs R. W. Binney and Co. Report. — At their Hale on Tuesday, 24th, of wool, hides, and skin-*, our market consisted of light and inferior hides, no first-class coming to hand. Prices ruled from li\d to 3^d per lb ; pelts, 9d to la 2d ; lanibikint?, lid to Is 4d each ; wool up to 7d per lb.
LO.NDON MARKETS. London, February 25. — Consols are quoted at 98jj. The market rate nf dw LDiint has further 'fallen to 3^ per cent., and is now below the bank r.ite. New Zealand securittes : — The ."> per cent. 10 40 loan uas advanced by ss. Inscribed stock has declined by 10s to £99. Colonial breadstuffs : The quotation", ex store, are unchanged — viz., Adelaide wheat, 36s : Adelaide Hour, 23-< ; New Zealand wheit, 2Ks to '.U-i. Austiahan t.illow is unchanged. Beef, average quality, is 33s ; mutton, ditto, is 3K
