THE TAMAHERE CHURCH.

jo rUK KDiroit. Sin,— lv the interest-, of ChiUtian unity it is much to bj legietted tli.it the Anglican cltMgy h.ue decided to hold a service in the Taiuahore Church m the forenoon of the Sunday when the \Vc-<lc> l i!is hold their monthly service. I say " the clergy," because the parishioners ha\e not been consulted on tho nutter, lv a building which was subscribed for by the various denomination^, and erecfcdd on the clear uuder*tj riding tli.it the ministers of the various Chustian Churches should officiate therein. It ib surely enough th^t the Anglican clergy occupy it 'three Sundays out of the four, without mtsiferius with the \Ve-le>ans in their in mthly service. Not only are the \Ve»ley.ni settlers painfully sui prised at the action taken by the clergy, but \ery t.tioug exception to any interference with the services of .mother Church is taken by liberal dud enlight :ned churchmen in the district. It nuy be said th.it tho service in the forenoon will not aftect the one in the afternoon, but undoubtedly it will, as it is impossible for many of the distant settlers to attend two nervices on the same day, and the result will be, as la^t Sunday fully proved, a miserable attendance at b >th services. I may add that at the annual meeting of parishioners this matter wo.-, paitiully discu->seJ, but there being so few present, it was resolved that .it an adjoin nod meeting the question of a. fourth Anglican ben ice on tho Sunday occupied by the Wesleyans should be fully difOJssed and decided one way or the other, but now we hud thi> \n ojuwed meetmi? indefinitely postponed, or, in other words, will not be held at all. For tho sake of unity and good feeling, I hope " the powers that be" will reconsider the matter, and nnke all duo ha^te to retreat from a position which will be very adversely criticised by all go\>d msn and true. Surely, Mr Editor, if that good old maxim, " Do unto others as we would thoy should do unto us," be not rigidly adhered to and obeyed by the Christian Churches in our land, where can we expect to find it ?— I ara, 1< Am Plat. Tamiheie, Feb. 25th, 1860.
