Fat shoep sold slightly better, but lambs were lower in price ; prime quility In ought i)s to 11s each. A larger muster than UHiial of choice fatted pigs, medium and bsjht weights, sold freely at full rates. Missus. Hlntkb and Noi.\>. s Wkiki.\ Rkpoki'.— Hor-es : There has been but a modei.ite number bi ought forward, with little alteration in v. line, that, if any, was in favour of the vendor. At the Durham Yards on Friday above an average number were entered for disposal by auction. Competition was steady throughout the H.ile, and, with very few exception*, lots were cleaied at a slight advance on the previous week's rates. Wool, hides and nkins : There was a laiger supply than usual. We quote— Wool, from 5d to I>4'J ; hides, 2d to 3WI ; calfskins, 4|d : sheep«kins, <)d to 1m 4d. Cattle : The atii>ply has been adequate, and an improved demand has evisted ; c«n*cquently there has been a nhghtly upward tendency in value. At Newmarket on Tuesday there was a go )d muster of all descriptions, and the Pukekohe Yards were well filled on Wednesday. Prices for dairy cows had an upwaid tendency, and wo quote an advance of fully 10-s per head. Stores on the whole did not depreciate in value, and for well bred animals a slight advance was given. For top >oits of beef an advance of 2a per lOOlbs was given. A draft of steers fattened on Mi Thorn is Go idfdlow's farm at Alexandra atttracted particular attention, as being very prune, and, although light weights, averiged £7 12s <5d ; Fleming, 8 men, £8 3s ; Hunt, S cows, £"> 3d !)d ; Hodgson, 8 steers, t'7 I."m ; Westney, 8 steers, £'<> l'Js 3d. Sheep : There was rather a large unrket on Tuesday at Newnnrket, but competition was good throughout the sale, and an advance of fully 2s per head was fiven. TIk 1 culls of Mr Stent'.s Shropshire )oiwi rams sold nt £"> each; Romney M ir-h lam-, from £2 12s (id to £3 3s ; eight Shropsfnip D.nvu lams were held over for pmato-ule, Mr Stent being unwilling to allow <hoep with their fashionable b-eeding to go at such low figures. Lambs were plentiful, and sold at from Cs tfd to 12s. Pigs were .scarce ; good porkers realising 3',d per lf» lne weight. There remains an unsatisfied demand.
