PUBLIC MEETING AT RAGLAN.
A MhKirv. of the settleis of this district was hold in the council chanibeis, Raglan, mi Katuidav, tin; 7th of February. It was a iepiesoutati\e one, settloi» from all putts of the distiict being present, from Ku.ipuke, Waitetuna, Aotea, Kanoi, &c. — On the motion of Mr (Jibbisoii, seconded by Mr l'htlfi, Mi Mitchull was called to the chair. The Chaiiman in opening the meeting, stated th it he had been ieqne-<ted, as chair man of the town board, to call this meeting to consider the wants of the district, mid to tike action thorcon. Mi Phillips o\pressed himself in favour of one steamei, and stated the disadvantage he had siiffeied in not getting goodh, t>ettlur» often bringing conveyances 20 miles into Raglan, finding no boat here and going back empty, and in having pigs waiting scseial weeks for .shipment. A committee w.is foimed, consisting of Messrs J. H. riiillips, A. (iilnmur, Little wood, and Mathias, to cany out this arrangement. Vessels coming here could then lease by the p<ttne tide. Mi Feignson thought it would be best to communicate with our member, so as to get an engineer to find out the best site for the wharf. ' Seconded by Mr Robertson, and carried. A committee was foimed, consisting of Messm Moon, Sutton, Phillips, Mitchell, ftud l'cglor.
