A young native mined Perakuu met with a sad accident the other day down the coast. The nati\es were falling a honey tree, and he ran to get clear, but it fell <>n him, crushing him. It is doubtful if he v> ill recover, thus showing how unwise it is to run away from a f.illing tiee. Tin 1 regatta and sports come off at Kawhia on tho 20th of this month. The committee of the Raglan Jockey Club aie \e-iy busy just now in arranging for tho races which will he held hero on the 17th of March. A large number of e\ents come off, and no doubt a great numbei of penroiiH will come over. A return ball is to bo held here on the 27th of this month, gnen by the ladies of Kiglnn in letmn for the last ball pi veil in Kawhia. A meeting of the lubes' committee took place last e\ening. ' The Ro» . W. Sl.ule, our Lite minister, is o\.>r on a visit ht'ie foi a few days. He is to be remo\ed fiom Tamanga wheio he is now stationed, to Poit Chalmers. After the departure of the Ke\. W.
