With reference to a comment which appeared in thene columns, on the 27th ult., regarding the ti fiction engine for Mr J. Allwifl, which was recently sent to Hautapu, we aro informed that the ships charge were made on 3 tons lOcivt. for the boiler, and V.i tons 10 cwl. for the machinery, the actual weight bring 3 tons 10 cwt. for the boilur, mid 0 ton* 10 cwt. 2 quarters for the machinery. A young man named Richard Hnckett, a .readout of Waikato, h»s embarked on a career of crime which, but for the timely interference of the polite, bade fair to riral that of the renowned Jack Hhephard or Dick Turpin.
