A specimen of concrete made with Wilson's hydraulic lime may bo inspected by thcwo interested at the office of this journal. The block wan made at Crawfords Gully, and was Hot under water by instructionn of the engineer, Mr T. G. Saudi**. It shows what excellent concre'e the lime is capable of making in proper hands.
We again remind our readers that the second annual meeting of the North New Zealand Fanners' Co-operative Association will be held at the offices, Victoriastreet, Hamilton, at 2 p.m. to-morrow. The business is to receive the rejwrt and balancesheet, to amend the articles ol association, and to elect directors in the place of those who retire by rotation.
A new native industry has been developed among the Rotorua Maori*. Mr Kirkwood, of Cambridge, purchased from a Maori the other day a number of billiard cues, made of innire, at a considerably lower r.ite than the imported article co->ts. The cues, though -ather green, are well finished, and especially well balanced, and the amount of patient labour needed in making them must have been considerable.

A lot of routine business was gone into, but nothing of general public interest. The engineer will call for tenders soon for a number of jobs. A painful accident happened at Hamilton West, yesterday evening 1 , to a little girl twined Lilly Cornish, nlxmt nine yearn of age. Sim w;w climbing ujxni a paling fence, with some comiunions, when her foot slipped and the sharpend top of a paling entered her leg, behind the knee, inflicting a nasty g.wh about two inches in length. Dr. Carey was called in at once, and under hi* treatment the sufferer is progressing favourably. This should be a caution to many children who are so fond of climbing and walking on fences, and emulating Blondon'ri perforniances sit the risk of their limbs.
It will be remembered that at the last meeting of the proi inionnl committee of the proposed Beet .Sugar Company the question of river freight cropped up. It was agreed to write to the Wnikato Coal and Shipping Company, asking what terms it was prepared to offer. A meeting of the director* of the Waikuto Coal and Shipping Company has* since lwen held, and yesterday Mr Graham received an intimation that the company would bo prepared to carry roots horn Cambridge to the mill at Hamilton for 2s per ton, from Nganiawnhia for 2s <>d, and from any spot on the Waipa, or on the Waikato below Ngaruawahia for 3s per ton. These rates are considered very satisfactory.
The guard of the Cambridge train. Henry Sprafct, met with a very painful accident yesterday. It i« part of Mr Spiatt's duty to go down to Huntly with the morning train and take chai«o of that reaching Hamilton at 1.55 p.m. Some trucks had to be shunted at Tanpiri, and Spratt was engaged in putting down one of the brakes. This proved to be very stiff, and ho slipped, receiving a severe blow from the next truck a little above his left bin joint, inflicting a nasty bruise. Spratt satd nothing about the occurrence until the train arri\ ed at Ngaruawahia, when Home of the pasnengers persuaded him to lie down in the van, at tho same time providing him with cushions out of a first-claw carriage. At Hamilton Dr. Beale was called in, but Spratt decided to go on to Cambridge by tho 5 o'clock train and *ecure the services of Dr. Waddington. It is not thought that any bones are broken, and a little rest may set the patient on his leg* again.
