On th« motion of Mr Munro, heconded by Mr Montague, Mr John Gibbons was called to the chair, when tliu following ruoohitions wt're passed by the mooting:— lst. Proposed by Mr Mills, seconded by Mr Brown, " That the thanks of this meeting be accorded to those members of the Piako County Council who voted in favour of striking a rate, but were defeated by the casting vote of the chaiiman, viz., Messrs Chepniull, Gould, Smith and Murphy, and that a copy of tliin lusdliifcidii bt) f<myiuded by tho secieUry «f this mooting to oaoli of tlic •jaidgentloiiioii." 2nd. Proposed by Mr Montague, seconded by Mr O'Keoffe, "That this mooting urgently requost tho. Piako County Council to u*o every uflfoit to? assist capital \n constructing roads for tho conveyance of machinery, and in developing the resource* of the goldfield." 3rd.
