ANNUM- Mhhll\(. OF F VRI->HIONhRS. Thk annual meeting of S. Johns' pr.iishoneis w.vs held on Wednesday evening, the Rev Mr Phillips in the chair. FUKSKNIAMON. The first thing done was to perform the pleading duty of presenting Miss Phillips with a gold watch, as a slight token of the appreciation of the congiegation of her services as organist. The presentation was made by Mr Teasdale, in a few well chosen words. The watch, uhidi is a keyless, double case one, bears the following inscription, "Presented to Evangeline Phillips, with the beat wishes of S. Johns' congregation, January 188.V Mr Phillips on behalf of Miss Phillips returned thinks, and expressed Ins daughter's pleasure at knowing that her Hervices had been .so thoroughly appreciated. ANNUAL UFPOlir &C. The business of the evening then commenced by the chairman reading the minutes of the last annual meeting which were confirmed. Mr T. Hunt, Minister's Warden.then read the statements of accounts for the past year, which showed a credit balance of ft's L>s lOd Embodied in the repot t was a recommendation to the incoming vestry to have a thorough inspection of the church building, as the roof is in many places more or less leaky, and the blocks in some cases defective. Tho tower of the church is also out of tho porpendicjilar. Attention was also drawn to the insufficiency of ventilation. During the past year the vestry made arrangements for the better lighting of the church, it being decided to have two chandeliers hung in the body of the building, each to hold six lamps. Attention was also diavvn to the fact that there were no communion vessels belonging to the church ; that those in use were only bonowed. The want of a new alter cloth was also pointed out. The vestry also expressed their appieciation of the services of the lay readers. Mr K. W. Roche proposed, and Mr Trewin seconded, that the report as lead bo adopted. — Carried. The statement of receipts and expenditure was then read. Tho receipts from all sources amounted to £93 oa lOd, and the expenditure to £88 3s, leaving a balance of £5 2s lOd. The pow rents amounted to £12 ss. The accounts weie passed as read, and according to n resolution passed at tho last annual meeting of parishioners, it was decided that tho balance to credit be paid to tho clergyman. RUCTION Ql (HUCKRS. Mr Hunt was nominated by Mr Phillips as his warden. Mr Toasdalo was re-ap pointed people's warden. The following gentlemen were elected to the vestry: — Colonel Smith, Me-srs Trewin, Co\, Cailey, Campstone, W, Jonos and Cottenll, three to foim a quorum. OTHKU HUSrVKis.. It was proposed, by Mr Sloane and seconded by Mr Rutherford, "That the htipend for the current year be £150,"— Carried. It was proposed by Mr R. \V. Roche and seconded by Mr Trewin, "That the seats be again let an last year, \'\/.., at 5s per seat. "' Mr Stichbury proposed, and Mr (lillicfc seconded, as an amendment, that the seats be not let. The amendment was lost on the voice*. Mesms Weslney and Rutherford were appointed auditors for the ensuing year. Votes of thanks to the Sunday-school teachers, \ eitry and thui chw ardens, and to tho Lay readers, choir and chairman, wero passed, and the benediction brought tho meeting to a close. — (Own Correspondent.)
