To conduct such experiments in the introduction and culture of new varieties of seeds, plants, trees, &c, as \\ ill most efficiently aid in the advancement of Canadian agricultuie ; to institute <>\peiinieiits with regard to the comparative value of fertilisers, the proper testing of seeds as to vitality and purity, and the healthy pre«ervation and productive condition of plants and animals. To make careful investigations into oiigin, dUtiibution, and habits ot insects, injurious and beneficial, and the contagious and other diseases to which animals and plants arc? subject, in order to arrive at the best method of destroying and countei.ictmg them. 3. To study the quality of the various breeds of cattle and other domestic animals, with the view of reporting on the best mentis of improv ing them, of protecting them ftom parasites and epidemic diseases, of feeding them for the market, and on the treatment of milch tattle 4.
