THE WHATAWHATA ROAD AGAIN.
« TO THE EDirOK Sir,— My son Tobias, in crossing the swamp from Wh.itawhata to Hamilton, mischievously set (ire to the fascines, but did not burn much of it. Now, Sir, the dry weather will be here shortly, and if the earth is not put on the chances are that the fascines will get burned up altogether, and there will be nothing left but a pleasant memory and a streak of ashes — unless we could turn the Lake on, and let it have its long desired wibh of swamping the Whatawhata road. I would suggest a monumeut of fascines to the memory ot the men who planned and executed the gi eat unfinished work, but then I know my son Tobias would burn ltdncctly. My son Tobias says something about memory and dust and ashes with icaaid to the abo\ementioned savants themselves, but I don't understan 1 him at all. — I am, &c , The Old 'Ux. Whatawhata, Dec. 20.
