Attempted SuicideNews of a shocking attempt at selfdestruction in Northern Waiaroa reached town to day. Constable Scott, Te Kopuru, lcpoits that on Thursday morning last, in consequence of information received, he ptooeeded to a hut on the gum fields behind the settlement, and there found a man named Hush McCullocli iv bod with a portion of his entrails piotruding from a wound in the region of the stomach. The injuries were selfinflicted. The man was conveyed to the lock-up .it Te Kopuru, and the constable telegraphed to Dr. Norton, Dargaville, who was soon in attendance, and after inspecting and bandaging the wound e\piessed an opinion that the injured man would piobably recover It appeals that about a month from the occunence YlcGulloch had been diinking heavily, and so deep were his potations that his mind became affected. Some months ago he made an attempt to hang himself at Tokatoka, and was then bound over for six mouths in his own recognisance.
