CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday.

Mr Wakefieltl addressed a crowded meeting in the Leeston Town Hall last night, speaking for two hours and a-half. Though at first hadly received, and even hissed, he carried the meeting w ith him, and was accorded a vote of thanks and renewed confidence by a very large majority. Wednesday. A brutal outrage was committed on a woman shortly after 12 o'clock on Monday night by three yonug men, all of wiiom criminally assaulted her. From the statement of the woman it appears that they seized her and carried her to a paddock off the south town belt, and committed the offence. The men have all been arrested.
