The weather was splendid, and there was a large attendance. The handicapping was good, which resulted in close finishes. Flying Stakes Handicap, of GOaovs. Three-quarters of a mile. Ugly Buck 1 Consul 2 Speculation 3 Hurple Race, of 75sovb. Two miles. Wideawake 1 Barbiiry 2 Liability 3 W.J.C. Handicap, of 200sovb ; 1 mile and a-half. Black Rose 1 Leonora 2 Ugly Buck 3 Island Bay Handicap, of SOsovs. 1 mile Speculation (late Hippodamia) 1 Consul 2 Mata 3 The Tramway Plate of 40sovs., threequarters of a mile, for all beaten horses, was won by Whitiora (7st), beating Normanby, Laurel, Baibary, Dynamite, and Lady Albany. Time, lmin. 20^ecs. Dividend, £23. Four thousand pounds passed through the totalisators. Fiiday. Potako won the Hack Race. Dan O'Oonuell came in first but was disqualified.
