CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
A JfBRriNG of the above body was held at the town board office on Saturday afternoon lor the purpose of opening tenders for the office of ranger, and also for the job of carting of the board. OARfXNG.— The following tenders were received for the board's carting : — ft. Heaslip, Is sd ; J. Brocklesby, Is 4d ; J. Meredith, Is 3d ; M. Dillon, 10d.— CV. Lewis referred at considerable length to the necessity of the board's disposing of this class of work by tender. Hitherto they had favoured one man to the exclusion of others equally deserving, which had not been merely an injustice, but had also been a costly matter to the board. They hid been told that Brockle.sby would do the work cheapest and best, but the tendjr« above quoted showed conclusively that that was not so. He would therefore prop me that Dillons tender be accepted. — Ci. Hewitt seconded. — Dillons tender was accordingly accepted. Rang KU.— Walter Murphy tendered for this office as follows :—lst,: — 1st, £24 a year : 2nd, 2s per head ; 3rd, £16 and Isd per head. — On the motion of Mr Gillett it was agreed that Mr Murphy be offeied the position of ranger for 12 months at Is Gd per head. This was all the business.
