Prince's sire, Prince Charlie, dark bay,' foaled 1555, of the pure Clydesdale breed, imported from Scotland by J. and M. Macintosh, where lie had been exhibited seven times and gained seven first prizes. Prince's dam, Princess Maud the Ist, bay, foaled 1853, imported from Scotland by J. and M. Macintosh.
