LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Professor/Swallow Committed for Trial. Auckland, Monday Night. Professor Swallow was committed for trial to day, charged with inciting one Samuel Cain to commit an indecent offence. Two other charges were remanded.

The Agricultural Show. The Agricultural Show on November Bth and 10th promises to be as successful as previous shows. The entries which cloae'l on Satnrday are generally satisfactory. Exhibits in horses are not, so numerous as, they were last year, but they include a superior class of animals. The total will be about 100, and will include a large number of splendid horses from the Auckland Stud Compnny. Entries for cattle number between SO and 90, and include some fine bred cattle from Waikato. Dairy produce will be an improvement on last year, but articles of local industry will be less numerous than before. The sheep exhibits are good, and the number of fowls and dogs entered are about equal to those at previous shows. Judging will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and on both days special trains will be run to the show at reduced rates. An effort is being made to induce the Volunteers to hold their review on the racecourse on Monday, and this if successful, would of course attract a very largo number of visitors to Ellerslie,

Milner Stephen. Milnev Stephen gave a public exhibition of his healing powers at St. James' Hall before an audience numbering about 100, largely composed of ladies.

Direct Steam Service. The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce is taking action re the exclusion of Auckland from the direct steam service.
