Indecent Assault. ArcKLAND, Friday Night. Martin Swallow, the well-known musician, was brought up at the Police Court this morning, on three distinct chargei, vu.: (1) indecently and unlawfully assaulting a male person, William McLean, (2) with soliciting Samuel Cane to commit an indecent assault, (3) under the Vagrant Act, with using indecent language to Sergeant Donnelly. On the application of Sergeant Pratt the cases were remanded until Monday next, in order to subpcena the necessary witnesses. Bail was allowed the prisoner, £100 in his own recognizances, and one surety in £100 or two.in £30. The necessary bail was found.
The Heleasville Flour Mill. Company. The balance-sheet submitted at the annual meeting, to-day, showed that the year's proceedings again exhibit a loss.
Sharemarket. Sales, to-day : New Zealand Insurance, 78s; New Zealand Shipping, 59s (kl; Imperial, 18s 6d ; Canadian, 4s Id (buyers 3s lOd); Ivanhoe, 2s 9d to 3s 3d (buyeis, 3s 2d).
The Markets. Butter remains at last Friday's quotations, m'z. : 8d per lb wholesale, and lOd per lb retail; eggs receded to 10il per doz. wholesale, Is retail; local bran worth £6 ; maize, &&JS& ; potatoes, about £3 10s per ton. Mr Binney reports : At the sale of wool, hides and skins, hrst-clast stout; hides, 3^l to 4\d ; light and inferior, 2jd to 2Sd ; damaged, ljd to 2\d ; butchers' full-woolled skins, 4s 4d to 3s 2d ; second class, 3a 6d to 3s lld ; pelts, 3d to 7£d ; wool, sjd to Od.
