TUESDAY. The Government Insurance Bill was read a, second time and no v oral other measures were advanced a. ntiwc.
WEDNESDAY. The Council met at half-pnat two Mr Barnicoat moved tbo second reading of the School Committee* Election Bill. Dr Pollen mo\ed th.it it be read a second time six months honce. After short debate the second reading wan negatived by 22 to 7. The False Notice of Births, Marriages and Deaths Bill was read a becond time. The West Coast Harbour Empowering Bill was read a third time and passed. Mr Richmond moved the second reading of the Municipal Corporations Amondrnent Bill. Mr Waterhouso moved as an amendment, "Any bill amending tho Municipal Corporation Act should be introduced on tho responsibility of tho Government." The amendment was carried on the voices. The Bankruptcy Amendmont Bill, and Police Offences Bill were road a second time without discussion. The New Zealand Government Insurance Association Bill was considered in Committee. At 5 o'clock the Council adjourned till 7.30 p.m. The Council in Committee resumed at half-past seven, when the Government Insurance Bill was further discussed, and the bill was reported with amendments.
