Thames, Friday. CoRRKSPOVDFNcrc received by relath es of the Wild Duck crnisiug party, which left the Thames for New Guinea, in April last, furnishes paiticulais of a brush with the natives, in the course of which Cbas. Lawlor, one of the owners of the vessel was somewhat severely wounded. After reaching Tort Moresby, the party embarked m the Heche de Mer tiade, and weie assisted in their operations by a number of apparently friendly blacks. On one occasion, when Lawlor was engaged fixing the anchor of the vessel's boat a native pushed him over board andondeavonred to drown him, and in the stinjigle which ensued another attacked him with a spear. With the assistance of his comiades he eventually succeeded in getting lid of his assailants, but not until several nasty wounds had been inflicted. He was then assisted on board in a state of insensibility and after thib evidence of tieachery the party deemed it advisable to leturn to CJooktown. The wounded man had completely lecovered from the consequences of the adxentme.
