The Molly Maguires. REORGANISATION OF THE SOCIETY IN PENNSYLVANIA.
Pittsbuug, September 19.—A Locust Gap (P«v.) .special says: In the outlying districts of the Sclmylkill, Luzerne, Northumberland, Carbon, Lehigh, Wyoming and Lackawonna coal and iron regions, the police as \\ ell as members of the detective corps ha\e discovered unmistakable evidence existing of lodges of the brotherhood of Molly Maguires. Yesterday the body of a Hungarian employed on the Beech Creek, Clearh'eld and Southwest Railroad, was found near Clearfield Creek, Clearfield county. There were terrible stabs and shot wounds upon him. A party of miners drove him away from the coal ountry, and it is presumed the man refused to leave. A Hungarian named George Unglevaritish was fatally shot at Centralla. Who fired the shot is unknown, though a man named Lef kowitch has been arrested and taken to Bloorasburg jail. Interviews with Captain Alverson of the Shamokin Coal and Iron Police, Capfcun Williams of the Schuykill Corps, and Captain R. .T. Linden, Superintendent of the Pennsylvania agency of the PinkertonBnreau, have developed the fact that the statements relative to the reorganisation of the Molly Maguire society are true. A number of prominent citizens, railroad oppiatois and mine bosses have been threatened and their names placed on the brotherhood's death li&t. While there is no direct evidence to connect the Molly Maguires with the recent murders, certain circumstances direct suspicion toward them, and the recent mysterious incendiary burning of colliery propeity in different sections of the coal country is attributed to the brotherhood.
