DUNEDIN, Thursday.
A fire broke out at half-past ten to-night in the Temple Chambers in Princesstreet, between the National and New South Wales Bank. The new building is the property of the National Bank, and is tenanted by various commission agents, &c. The fiie obtained a good hold in the rear of the building, and several offices were much damaged. The Fire Brigade prevented the the spreading further. The principal losers are Matheson and Bell (jun ), Hooper, J. A. Chapman, and Rothschild and Jacobs, wholesale jewellers. The insurances cannot be ascertained to-night, but the building is insured for £3000 in the National office by the National Bank ; Rothschild and Jacobs have insuiances of £1000 on the stock, believed to be in the Standard. Mr Bradshaw, M.li.R, has offices in front. They were not damaged. Friday. Tin; insurances on Temple Chambers, paitially burnt, are :— £3000 in the National—Rothschild and Jacob, £700 in the Standard ; Hooper, £200 in the Vic totia ; Ahithieson and Bell, £100 in the National. Chapman was uninsured.
