FRIDAY. The Legislative Council mot at half-past two. Leave of absence, was granted to Mr Peacock on the ground of domestic affliction. Mr Miller moved the third reading of the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company of Now Zealand Bill. Mr Waterhouse moved the adjournment of the debate, which was agreed to. In icply to Mr Wigley, the Colonial Secretary said it wa<* his intention to introduce a bill next week to provont the spread of lice in sheep. The West Coast Harbour Board Bill, Thames Recieation Reserves Sales Bill, and the Wanganui Harbour Board Bill were read a first time, as also was a bill to declare the liabilities of shareholders in companies carrying on business as executors and trustee*, introduced bv Mr Wilson. Mr Waterhouse moved the second loading of the Cruelty to Animals Bill. Agreed to. The Wellington Harbour Board Empowering Bill, the Slaughterhouse Bill, and Otago Presby tei ian Chinch Property Bill were read a third time and pa&sed. The Council went into Committee on the Otago Harbour Boaid Loans Consolidation Bill and Workmen's Wages Bill. The former was repoited with amendments, and progress was repoited in the latter ax, clause 2. The Imprest Supply Bill No. 3 was passed through all its stages. The Speaker laid on the table a communication from the Premier, .stating a protest on the pait of the Chnstchurch ministers of religion against members going on !, Sabbath oxcursions. Some discussion arose as to the unprecedentodnoss of the way of addressing Parliament, the usual couise being to approach Parliament by petition. Tho Council rose at 5 p.m.
THURSDAY. A number of bills were advanced a stage.
