News, however, has been received from the inland districts of northern Nubia stating that Osman Digna has been harassing friendly tubes, and has tnassacied large numbers of women and children belonging to them. A camel coi ps from Alexandria starts to-morrow up the Nile for the Soudan. Seveial Arab Sheiks from Shendy and Khartoum have arrived at Ambukol, on the Nile, and have tendered thensubmission to the commander of the British force stationed there. i
