The promenade concert in aid of the Waikato Row ing Club's funds c.uneotf in theOddfellow'h Hall, Hamilton, on Tuesday night. Contraiy to expectation theattendance was only model ate, but those who went appeaied to enjoy themselves. Two or three of those who h.id piomised to sing were unavoidably absent, but the programme, oil thing-, consideied, was a fail ly good one. The he.'uy weight lifting by Professor Pompey was a stiong featme in the entertainment, and the ".showman" who introduced the professor played the part to peifection. The M>ng "Take a bumper and try," was sung in splendid style by a wellknown and popnlai amateni, who chose to be known as "Sigma Baiianini." Tlie music foi the dancing was Mipphed by Mr Holhiway'i band and gave full satisfaLtion, The proceedings closed about midnight with " (iud .Save the '^ute.i,'" played by the band.
