October 8. —The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited), reports the local grain market as follows :— Wheat, 3s 4d to 3* lid ; malting barley, 3s *.)d to 4s Gd ; market quieter, but .steady. New Zealand oats : Feeding Mnts linn and in active demand at 3s fid to 4s {)d ; milling ditto, in fair demand at 3s f)d to 3s lOd. New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s lid to 3s ; market quiet.

Melbourne, September 22 :— Wool.— Business transactions since the date of nnr List summary have been unimportant, tho total sales far the month amounting to about 700 bale->, and consisting chiefly of scoured skin wool and the usual miscellaneous descriptions that are brought foi ward prior to the opening of a new season. Tho prices realised, which w ere \ cry fhm, showed no alteration on pievious quotations, infeiior to middling gieisy ranging from (>d to Od , and ordinary to aveiage scoured, from 14d to 19jd., while crossbred wools, when at all fine, sold readily up to l~>,'d per lb. The total export of wool from Australasia to London since the Ist July amounts to <)1,37C> by hteamci, and !), 304 by sailer. The Suantity of new clip included m the above lipments by steamer amounts to 20,138 bales.
