Howitt, who seconded the motion. — Ci. Gillett was in favour of both cattle and holies being allowed to loam about the town without any chnige whatever being made. — Or. Lewis did not appiove of cattle or holies being allowed to wandei about the streets of tho town, puticularly during tho night, foi then they did the damage to people's gaidens and fences, and could not be watched — Ci. Hewitt thought an exception should be mado in the case of Mnoii hoises. Natn es dui ing Land Court times should be tieated as an exception. They could not affoid to paddock theii hoiset, and haying no pioperty of their own they were obliged to take advantage of the run. He did not think they should be inteifeied with. — Or. Houghton thought much damage might also be done to the domain le&erve, which had lecently been laid off, were cattle allowed to wander about at night. Or, Hughes was of the same opinion. — The amendment on being put was carried on the easting vote of the chairman. CnGhSK Factory Oftick, — On the application of the secretary of the Cambridge Daily Pi oduce and Bacon Factoiy, it was agreed to let the factory company have the use of the office at the annual rental of £5. 8 vni r vuy Rkquiuument.s.— The Inspector of Xui- mces Miote faugge^ting the election of public uiinata for the accommodation of natives.— The matlei^ was refened to the Stieetb Committee, with the recommendation of the boaid, that the huggestion contained in the inspector's letter be given effect to. Street Repairs Necessary.— A petition was received from 31 ratepayers stating they were seriously inconvenienced by the disgraceful state of several of the main streets in the town, principally Victoriastreet, from Queen-street West to the Hamilton road, and the Hamilton road fiom the church corner to the town belt. They asked that the necessary repairs be effected without delay in view of the heavy traffic which daily passses over the streets named.— Mr B. Ruge wrote drawing attention to the state of the footpath in Alpha htieet. — Mr John Brown wrote complaining of a tree on the road which obstructed the entrance to his property in Victoria street— The trustees of the Wesleyan Church wrote complaining of the state of the footpaths in front of the chmch. — Dr Waddington wrote complaining of the state of the footpath and the porze in front of his property in Queen Str^t. —Mr Geo, Hw- wiote a.«cniiy permission to form tho footpath in front of
