The second reading was cained. Mr Hobbs moved the .second reading of the Gaming and Lotteries: Act 1881 Amendment (No. 2) Bill. After a shoit discussion the second reading was cariied. Mr Connolly moved the second reading of the Alienation of Land Bill. Sit Julius Vogel thought it inexpedient to proceed with so Luge a measure this session, and therefore would vote against the second reading. It was not, however, to be taken that he opposed the principle of the bill. Mi Hobbs supported the bill, and Mr Shepherd suggested the postponement of the debate for a week.
