The diiectois reported having secured site for works, etc., but staled that a policy of inaction had been deemed desirable in view of the pieseut aspect of the frozen meat trade. The directors have, however, been making enquiries as to the advisability of instituting butter and cheese factories, and recommend that the venture be undertaken. The following motion was carried : "That the directors be instructed to establish butter and cheese factories in such localities as present openings on getting guarantee from the farmei'3 of the district that they will supply milk at satisfactory price." This company must not be confounded with the New Zealand Freezing Company, which was the first one established in Dunediu, and is in active operation. Monday. The Bankruptcy case of George Babley, the propiietor of the Leviathau Cafe, who got a bogus contract signed in order to impose on the Building Society came before Judge Williams to-day. The official assignee said it was not quite clear whether the Building Society would proceed against Babley for having obtained money by false representations. The examination was adjourned. Mr Stout will arrive to-morrow night to give evidence in the Supreme Court iv the case Campbell v. Sievwright and others. He will be received at the railway station by the Mayor and other citizens, and will be presented with an address.
