WELLINGTON, Friday.
At a meeting of gentlemen it was decided to call a public meeting for the purpose of forming a Prevention of Ciuelty to Animals Society. The following gentlemen will ba asked to move the principal resolutions : —The Piemier, Sir Ueo. Uiey, and Mr W. T. L. Tiavers. Tne Hinemoa leaves to-morrow morning for Picton and Kelson with the members of the House. She returns ou Tuesday morning. The Aorangi leaves for Lyttelton tomorrow. Mr Neale, chief officer of the ill-fated ship Listingham, has been appointed chief officer of the Government steamer Hinemoa. The others are also provided for.
