DUNEDIN, Thursday.
Wm, Houmslow, a fanner, while ou the ranges beyond Flagstaff Hill on the 16th inst , found the dead body of a man in a very inaccessible spot. It was lying on the right side, with a bridle attached to a rope over the shoulders. It appeared as if the deceased, being fatigued, had lain down, and perished trom exhaustion or cold. Deceased is described as being about 30 yeais of age. The body was decomposed, and apparently had been lying there for three or four months. Ifc has been surmised that the deceased is Wm, MeMeekan, who left his home on the 20th May.
Later, The body found on Flagbtaff has been identified as MeKeekan, junior. The father is now in gaol for cattle-stealing, and in May last was known to be hiding fiom the police, <vid it is believed that the son went out on the laiiges to search for his father.
Friday. In the R.M. Court, to day, Milner Stephen sued Alex Inglis for £-3 4s, for magnetic tieitment. The point was raised for the defence that Stephen, not being a registeied medical man, could not recover cluigea for attendance. The R.M reseived decision till Monday. At the inquest to day on the body of the young man named McMeelun, nged 24, fo'ind dead on the Flagstaff Range, a \erdicl was letumecl of death from exposure, consequent on being lost on the ranges while statching for his father.
