SANITARY REQUIREMENTS AT CAMBRIDGE.

The Inspector of Nuisances for Caiv l ridge has written the following repot t to the town board on the present sanitaiy requiiements of the town :—: — Cambridge, 12th September, 1884. The Chairman Cambridge Town Board. Stu,— l beg respectfully to bring under the notice of your board the pressing need that now exists for some immediate steps being taken for the election of two or three suitable h times for the use of the Maoris now residing in the township. I need hardly lemark that the few pounds spent in the catrying out of &uch a necessary woik would more than compensate, and be a mere mite when computed to the security affouled, the coinfoit, and banita\y condition of the district at large. On ing to the bulk of the people having no place such as above mentioned to make use of, they tlnow all sorts of rubbish and mesa all over the place. Consequently, to &uch an unbeatable pat-s will things come to in a few day-, with the near appio.vch of the hot weatbet too, that the health of the inhabitants, botli European and Maori, will be in jeopardy. In the event of your board can ying out the work abo\e mentioned, I would further suggest that notices either written or printed in the Maori language be posted up in the most conspicuous part of the township duelling that those places must be used by them for that purpose and for no other, and any pei son found com mitting a nuisance outside will be prosecuted, &c, &c. Unless soire Mich steps as those above suggested be immediately taken in hand the consequences may be serious, and no blame can be attached to the poor Maoris for any ill effects that may at any time now arise.— Yours, &c, Ixsi'EcroK ov Nuisances.
