The Legislative Council of Fiji lias .xgrcud to that colony joining in tl c guarantee of £15,000 lequired by the Imperial Government in connection with the appointment ot a High Coinm ai oner for New Guinea. Mr Service has wiitfcen to the Premieis of the vauous colonies enquiring whether consideiation has been given to the ))ill introduced by Mr Griffiths in the Queensland Parliament, providing for the exclusion of Fiench criminals fiom that colony, Mr Service stiongly ursics the necessity of such a mcisnre, and favours the imposition of differential tonnage dues on \csscL trading with comiit settlements.
