LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

THURSDAY. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. In leply to questions, the Colonial-Secre-tary said the Om eminent had no intention of iiitioduciug tliu. .session any measure for the lefoim of the Council; the Government, though aware that the salaries paid to judges were lower than in other countues, did not intend to take any action in tho matter this session. Some other unimportant business was tiansactcd, and the couucil adjourned at 3.30 p.m.

FRIDAY. The Legislative Council met at 2.30. On the motion of Mr Waterbou^e, it was resolved to instruct the Standing Orders Committee to take into cousidei ation the present mode of distributing the honorarium payable to hon. membeism connection with their attendance at Parliament, with a view to lecommending to the Council a more equitable mode of distribution than under the o\ i--tiiig aiiangeiiicnt. Mr Niuse moved that in futiue the Government Gazette be not posted to Justices of the Peace unless applied for, but th.it the Gazettes be suppliid bound to .ill the court-houses for refeience. After discussion the matter was negatived by 18 to i). The Colonial Secretary moved the second reading of the Timber Floating Bill. Agieed to. On the motion of Mr Reynolds, the committal of the Dunedin Drill shed Reserve Bill was made an ordei of the day for Thuisday. The Council adjourned at 3.5 p.m.
